　　It went many years,

　　But at last came a knock,

　　And I though of the door

　　With no lock to lock.

　　過(guò)了許多年時(shí)光，

　　忽聽(tīng)得敲門(mén)聲響，

　　我想起門(mén)沒(méi)有鎖，

　　我怎能將它鎖上。

　　I blew out the light,

　　I tip-toed the floor,

　　And raised both hands

　　In prayer to the door.

　　我旋即吹滅了燈，

　　輕輕走在地板上，

　　又悄悄舉起雙手，

　　對(duì)著門(mén)禱告思量。

　　But the knock came again.

　　My window was wide;

　　I climbed on the sill

　　And descended outside.

　　敲門(mén)聲又響起來(lái)！

　　我看見(jiàn)窗戶(hù)洞開(kāi)，

　　于是偷偷爬上去，

　　一閃身跳到窗外。

　　Back over the sill

　　I bade a “Come in”

　　To whatever the knock

　　At the door may have been.

　　我轉(zhuǎn)身探進(jìn)腦袋，

　　喊了一聲：進(jìn)來(lái)！

　　管它敲門(mén)的是誰(shuí)，

　　有什么可以奇怪。

　　So at a knock

　　I emptied my cage

　　To hide in the world

　　And alter with age.

　　就這樣一聲門(mén)響，

　　我居然跳了出來(lái)，

　　投身不鎖的世界，

　　隨歲月漂流在外。
